Did Mark, the first gospel, employ sources? In this file first of all I outline the characteristics of oral and written sources. Then I suggest the indications for oral and written sources in the Gospel of Mark. Finally, I outline the relationship between Mark and the Q material, that is the sayings source of common material from Matthew and Luke.
